Originally built in the 1950s for a Boeing engineer, this rambler in Seattle's Seward Park neighborhood came with a delightful surprise—hand-drawn blueprints by the original owner himself! Embodying the cutting-edge design of its time, the home featured iconic mid-century luxuries such as a hard-wired "hi-fi" sound system, an indoor Hibachi grill, and a swimming pool. Our task was to preserve the remarkable beams and stonework while updating the outdated elements. We replaced all windows and doors, removing cumbersome trim for sleek, drywall-wrapped corners. The kitchen and bathroom underwent complete remodels, now showcasing wide-planked white Tauri oak floors and distinctive finishes—Heath Ceramic kitchen tiles with custom steel shelves aligned with the grout lines, and playful blue Moroccan bathroom tiles paired with white faucets. The space is now furnished with a mix of modern classics, vintage treasures, and layers of texture, creating an open, airy, and inviting atmosphere.
