About Katie Farris

Growing up on a farm on the east side of the state, Katie's profound love for home stemmed from her parents' dedication and attention to their home. Whether through her mother's seasonal decorating, renovation projects, yard work, or cooking and baking with her mother and sister, her home was a sanctuary of warmth and connection. This upbringing fostered in Katie a profound understanding of what it means to have a home that is not just a place to live, but a sanctuary that is comforting and welcoming, a principle she carries into her professional work in interior design.

Katie's journey into interior design began with a distinct pivot from her initial career path. After earning her BA in Criminal Justice with aspirations for law school, Katie found herself working at a law firm in Seattle. However, it was during the collaborative process of designing her own home with an architect that her fascination for home design and interiors took root. This newfound passion led her to apply for a position at a commercial architecture firm in Seattle, eventually transitioning to another firm closer to her home to further cultivate her skills in the field.

Despite experimenting with helping others design their homes, Katie discovered her true calling lay in the more structured aspects of design work. She thrives on the "mundane" tasks that are anything but—managing spreadsheets, ordering furniture, and meticulously organizing the myriad details essential for bringing a project to fruition. For Katie, the reward comes from being a part of creating someone’s home, transforming it into a cherished space for hosting family and friends.

Now, as a mother to a one-year-old, Katie's life is full of energy and constant movement. She enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, and cherishing moments with family and friends, all while maintaining an active lifestyle.
