Pair of dark green tufted velvet chairs

First Hill Condo

It’s always fun to work with a repeat client. A joyful rhythm and trust is already established so we really “hit the ground running”. For this sweet pied-a-terre up on First Hill in Seattle our clients gave us carte Blanche… the only request was “no construction” as dealing with construction work at a condo adds its own unique and challenging issues. Years ago the client and Lisa had bonded over their mutual love of classic, elegant interiors, that mix sculptural modern pieces with traditional forms and antiques. We also found strong inspiration in chic Paris apartments (who wouldn't!) and so we set off to decorate!

Inspiration quickly struck when we stumbled upon an antique Turkish patterned rug for the living room. It was our starting point for color: creams, dusty cinnamon, olive green, and small accents of black. From there we sourced the fantastic green-tufted velvet chairs and layered in the custom Royere “Polar Bear” sofa that became the perfect match (and the right homage—Paris!). Ebonized open shelves add the sculptural quality we craved and a spot for carefully curated collections of old and new.  A special commission of a Joseph Albers inspired Amish style quilt finishes off the living room. From there the dining and bedroom repeated the same soothing, earthy and textural palette and elegance.
